The Yang Lab at Duke University School of Medicine seeks a creative, motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to study how ion channels and lipid transporters work at molecular level, how they control signalling and physiology at cellular level, and how they contribute to human disease at system level. The postdoc will join an interdisciplinary team to uncover novel membrane mechanisms and develop new therapeutic strategies using electrophysiology, quantitative imaging, lipid biochemistry, structural biology, and model systems (cell lines, organoids, animal models, and patient samples). The postdoc will lead independent, high-impact projects on ion channel and lipid transporter biology; design and execute experiments; analyze data and publish research and review papers; present at conferences; mentor junior trainees; apply for fellowships/awards and develop independent career path.
Requirements
PhD in electrophysiology, biophysics, cell biology, structural biology, physiology, neuroscience, or related fields.
Strong experimental, analytical, time management, and communication skills.
Preferred experience includes patch-clamp electrophysiology, quantitative imaging, protein engineering, structural methods (cryo-EM, X-ray, MD modeling), lipid biochemistry, and/or disease models (rodents or organoid/organ-on-chip).
